  1. First of all, very nice work on a fantastic screen saver. It's an art that appears to be fading of late.
    I have an unusual monitor arrangement: My main monitor is horizontal (1920x1080) and my secondary is vertical (1080x1920). The screen saver is currently "squashing" the image on the main monitor to match the full short edge against the full long edge of the secondary monitor. For this layout, it would be better if the visuals were rendered in the overall virtual space, against which the screens would act as "windows into the box". I realize that would put some…

    I played around with the idea long time ago but since I dont use it like that and the scenes would have to be custom designed for midi input very few would see those scenes

  5. Trying to use the backdrop from Plane9 on only a single monitor is a nightmare; being able to set it to fullscreen on a single monitor (or even just as a giant window that we have explicit control of the output resolution//aspect ratios) would be awesome.

    Also, sortable scheme/preset/effect list by type - it's kind of a pain to drag yourself through 100+ effects trying to disable ALL the foregrounds or backgrounds (or masks...).

    Move the window to the screen you want it on and double click it to go fullscreen.

    Use the select/deselect and toggle buttons in the top left corner in combination with the tags and you can do most mass scene selection quickly

  6. So I figured out the scene files are just zip files with a couple of thumbs and an XML file. The XML contains some metadata and then a code block which is presumably GLSL/HLSL or similar.

    So writing our own scenes or modifying existing ones should be possible. I'd like to convert over some scenes from Shadertoy: https://alastaira.wordpress.com/2015/08/07/unity-shadertoys-a-k-a-converting-glsl-shaders-to-cghlsl/

    So my question is - how about a repository where people can upload and share scene files? It could just be a simple forum board.

    You can as you say edit these files manually. The problem is that I have for the last few releases broken the format in one way or another. Because of this I can’t ask others to create custom scene that might break in the next release I do. When/if I release the editor then I will have a proper plan for long term support of the scene format.

  7. I don't know why but in the current build of windows 10 Plane9 crashes every time WMP engages it. Screensaver and studio work fine, windowed too. I do have a disconnected rift DK2, tried with the oculus services disabled and running, no difference. Just want to use it in WMP.

    That’s the maximise button. It would leave a rather horrible frame around the screen. Instead hit Alt+Enter or doubleclick to make it a boarder less fullscreen window. F1 has some help.

  9. Recording is not working i did everything step by step but every time when i press record video or record preview video the window is just white

    It’s not updating the window since that cuts the render speed in 1/2 or worse so better to leave it white and get faster recording. Title bar states how long time is left.

  12. Is there a possibility to add this option when using a visualization?

    As for me the fullscreen one seems to center everything between my monitors, making it look weird.
    So I'd love to have it only one one monitor (possibly windowed fullscreen) as then I could do work on my other screen

    The editor has not yet been released and I’m not sure when it will happen. I want to rebuild it to make it easier to work with and I need to be done with major breaking changes. The next version will have more of those where I have been forced to update all scenes yet again. I can’t put that on user created scenes.

    I wont do this now. Might do it in the future though. The reason is that I like this as my own project, where I alone move it forward in whatever direction I feel. It is what drives me. I work as a lead in a another company and I don’t want this to become another project where I basically just manage and merge code.

    But thanks for the offer!

  16. I have enjoyed in the last version, the new fire effects very much. I wanted to propose as an idea for a new version, if one could not even make a three packet flamethrower. the bass frequencies change the height and beam angle.

  17. In VR it is essential that there is a 'reset orientation' key. So far I have not been able to find any information online regarding what the keybindings / shortcuts are -- or if there even are any. I think spacebar shifts the scene ahead, but I had to figure that out myself.

    Laying down and looking up at the beautiful things you guys have created would be great, but so far it seems I have to sit at my desk and watch that way. Kind of hard to enjoy.

    i was wondering where the editor is or if you would be up to do a visualization based on a videoexample.

    The particles dont have to be mirrored tho just some flying from the center towards the viewer getting faster when the bass hits

    I realy dont wanna bother you with it would rather try and do it myself but then again i suck at coding.

  20. Now the amplitude variable is decided by the main amplitude of the sound. Can you implement a switch that limits the range of the frequencies that are listened to. So that the Visualization doesn't react to the screaming before a drop, only with the bass that starts when the drop drops. Btw love the program! <3
